Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Partners Conduct Human Trafficking and Sexual Solicitation Operation

For several weeks, The Washington County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and Child Recovery Unit and Homeland Security Investigations to conduct a Human Trafficking and sexual solicitation operation.
This operation had great success, where law enforcement was able to identify trafficking victims and child sex predators. The Washington County Health Department partnered with law enforcement and provided the victims with numerous harm reduction programs. A total of 11 subjects were detained during the operation, and of the 11 subjects, five were able to be placed into harm reduction programs by the Washington County Health Department. The remaining six individuals have been charged and are listed below. Along with the other charges listed below, two arrest warrants were served, and illegal narcotics were removed from various suspects.
This operation was a coordinated effort between the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and Child Recovery Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and The Washington County Health Department under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations and those involved in human trafficking through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer. The Washington County Health Department also provides funding for these efforts. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all agencies for their contribution to this operation to help make Washington County safer.

2022 Patrol Awards Announced
Every year the Washington County Sheriff’s Office recognizes employees who go above and beyond regarding their professionalism, work ethic, and contributions to the Sheriff’s Office, making Washington County a safer community.
This year’s Patrol Deputy of the Year is Master Deputy Christopher Everitts. Master Deputy Everitts is a leader on his shift and within the Agency. He is involved in numerous essential aspects of the Sheriff’s Office, including training new and seasoned deputies. Master Deputy Everitts is an excellent representative of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
This year’s Patrol Supervisor of the Year is Sergeant Howard Ward. SGT Ward is the supervisor of the Digital Forensic Unit and an active member of the Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. SGT Ward consistently volunteers to assist other units within the Sheriff’s Office. In 2022, when a cyber security incident impacted the Sheriff’s Office, SGT Ward worked tirelessly to assist in returning the agency operations to normal. SGT Ward prioritized the continued operations of the Agency above his own duties.
Corporal Kyle Snodderly is recognized for having the highest number of criminal arrests and having written the highest number of citations for the Agency.
Deputy First Class David Carr is recognized for having the highest number of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) arrests for the Agency.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is proud of the hard work and dedication these Patrol Deputies have shown. Congratulations, keep up the great work!

One-Day Entry-Level Patrol Deputy Hiring Event

The Sheriff’s Office will conduct a One-Day Entry Level Patrol Deputy Sheriff Hiring Event on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 8:00 A.M. Applicants are to arrive at 7:30 A.M. for pre-registration. Physical Fitness/Handgun Familiarization Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 A.M. No late entries will be permitted.

All testing and interviews will be conducted at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, 500 Western Maryland Parkway, Hagerstown, MD. 21740.
Applicants who pass the PFT will continue with the Written Test. Applicants who pass the PFT and Written Test will continue to the Oral Board Interview beginning directly afterward.
The Release of Liability and Physician’s Certification MUST be completed and submitted on the testing date, July 15, 2023. The Physician’s Certification must be completed within 30 days of the Physical Fitness Test date to be considered valid. A valid government-issued photo identification is required at the time of testing.
