On December 13, 2017, The Crime Prevention Unit of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was recognized at the 38th Annual Governor’s Crime Prevention Awards.
The Crime Prevention Unit was presented with the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award for Law Enforcement: Category A.
The award is given to law enforcement agencies which meet the criteria for a comprehensive law enforcement agency crime prevention program. The criteria includes; participation in personal safety programs, residential security and commercial security programs, residential security and commercial surveys, residential security and commercial security training, crime prevention public information components, crime prevention activities and support of the National Crime Prevention “McGruff” Campaign.
