MEDIA RELEASE: The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Hagerstown man in connection to a vehicle pursuit.
On June 7, 2017 at approximately 1:00 AM, a Deputy was traveling in the area of West Wilson Blvd at Chestnut Street, when he observed a Ford Focus with a tag light out. The Deputy activated his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the Ford. The Ford did not stop and continued through several streets and alleyways, failing to stop at stop signs. The pursuit came to an end when the Ford struck a light pole disabling the vehicle.
The driver, who was the single occupant, was taken into custody without further incident. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Darius Khalil Bowie, 19, of Hagerstown.
After his arrest, Bowie was found to be in possession of 16.4 grams of marijuana.
Bowie has been charged with Possession of Marijuana 10GM+, Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision, Negligent Driving, Reckless Driving, Failure to Drive Right of Center, Turning Off M/V Lights to Avoid ID, Failure to Stop at Stop Sign and Flee or Elude Police in Vehicle by Failing to Stop.
Bowie was transported to Central Booking for processing and released on his Personal Recognizance.
