SCAM ALERT!

A scammer is calling community members claiming to be Col. Peter Lazich with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The scammer is stating that the would-be victim missed Federal Jury Duty and must pay a fine. As part of the scheme, the scammer has even spoofed the telephone number of the actual Sheriff’s Office.

Yes, we have a Col. Lazich, no he is not calling community members because they missed jury duty.

No Law Enforcement agency will ask for payment to take care of warrants or missed jury duty.

Never give out your personal information to unsolicited callers, when in doubt, do not give it out.
