Sheriff Douglas Mullendore is proud to announce the launch of the Law Enforcement Cadet Program at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. This program affords young adults the opportunity to begin their path to a law enforcement career and offers many advantages to help ensure success in attaining the position of Deputy Sheriff with the agency.
The Law Enforcement Cadet position is trainee level law enforcement work for individuals between the ages of 18 and 21. The Cadet will experience various duties and responsibilities performed by sworn personnel in preparation for and anticipation of the Cadet’s acceptance and entry into a Maryland accredited Law Enforcement Academy.
Starting salary for the Cadet position is $25,000 with a competitive benefits package. The minimum qualifications for the position are; applicant must have a high school diploma or G.E.D, applicant must be at least 18 and no older than 20 years of age, applicant must achieve necessary score in competitive testing and interview process, applicant must successfully complete background investigation, applicant must complete post job offer physical and psychological exam, applicant must be a United States citizen at the time of appointment, and applicant must posse and maintain a valid driver’s license.
