On November 9, 2019 at approximately 1:44 PM, Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to Shepherdstown Pike in the area of Taylor Drive, Keedysville, MD, for a personal injury collision.
A 2017 Lincoln MKX was traveling a constant speed westbound on Shepherdstown Pike. A 2000 Honda was attempting to turn left onto Taylor Drive from westbound Shepherdstown Pike. The Lincoln struck the Honda in the rear, causing the Honda to travel into the eastbound lane of Shepherdstown Pike. The Honda then collided with a 2016 Chevy Equinox, which was traveling eastbound on Shepherdstown Pike.
The driver of the Lincoln was identified as Lois Amsel Jarman, 59, of Knoxsville, Md. Jarman was found to be at fault, by the investigation Deputy, for the collision. Jarman was issued citations for Using a Hand held Cellular Device While Operating a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision.
The driver of the Honda, Riley Jason Simmons, 18, of Keedysville, MD, was transported to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, in Baltimore, from the scene.
The driver of the Chevy, Gordon Scott Mills, 46 of Thurmont, MD and two occupants, a 13 years old juvenile and Michelle Showe, 35, of Thurmont, MD, were transported to Meritus Medical Center.
