PRESS RELEASE
(WCNTF)
November 16, 2016
On Friday September 23, 2016 at 1:06 PM the Washington County Narcotics Task Force was notified of an opioid related overdose involving a 5 year old girl. Agents responded to Meritus Medical Center as part of the investigation and determined that the 5 year old girl was brought to Meritus by a private vehicle and she was un-responsive upon her arrival at the hospital. During the treatment of the child she was administered Narcan and immediately began to respond and become conscious. Narcan is a medication that reverses the effects of Opioid related overdoses.
As part of the investigation, agents interviewed numerous people to include the child’s mother, Jeanie Marie White and the child’s aunt, Tracy Bolinger. Based off of interviews it was determined that the 5 year old child had ingested a dose of Methadone that was intended to be taken by an adult while at a residence in the 1000 blk of Noland Dr. This occurred at approximately 7:30 AM that morning. Knowing the child had ingested the Methadone, they still sent her to school, but later decided to pick her up from school. Around 10:00 AM that morning the child was brought back to the address on Noland Dr by family and at this time she was described as “acting drunk” and having difficulty staying awake. While at the Noland Dr location the child’s condition worsened and at approximately 1:00 PM they decided to transport the child to Meritus Medical Center. The child was eventually transported to Childrens National Medical Center in Washington DC where she was treated and eventually released.
The Washington County Narcotics Task Force would like to remind everyone how important it is to keep all medicines in a locked secure location out of reach of children and adults who may abuse them. When finished with un-used medicines take the medicine to your local police department and dispose of it in a Prescription Drug Drop Box. Also, if a child or anyone is suspected of overdosing immediately call an ambulance.
As a result of this incident the below listed persons were charged via Criminal Summons 11/2/16.
Jeanie Marie White 31 years old of Hagerstown Md. is charged with: Reckless Endangerment: Contribute to Condition of Child and Neglect of Minor.
Tracy Bolinger 35 years old of Hagerstown is charged with the same above listed charges.
