During June 2023, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and Drug Enforcement Agency Western Region conducted joint criminal and traffic initiatives focusing on criminal and traffic violations on Route 40 from Interstate 70 in Washington County, Maryland.
Route 40 is a high-volume area for criminal violations, traffic violations, and motor vehicle collisions. Troopers and Deputies worked a combined 50 hours resulting in 224 traffic stops. From those 224 traffic stops, 77 citations, 263 warnings, and 14 equipment violations were issued. Additionally, 1 Driving While Impaired arrest, 2 Warrant arrests, and 10 Controlled Dangerous Substance arrests were made.
