On November 7, 2024, at approximately 2:55 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported stabbing in the area of East Potomac Street and North Conococheague Street, Williamsport, Maryland.

It was reported that two people had been stabbed and that the suspect was in an alley behind 40 North Conococheague Street holding a large knife. Witnesses described the suspect as a male in his early 20s, wearing a black hoodie and a mask.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a male who matched the suspect’s description. The suspect stood up from the wall in the alley and charged directly at the Deputies while holding a knife in his hand.

The Deputies ordered the suspect to stop and drop the knife. The suspect ignored the orders and continued to charge the Deputies, stating that they were going to have to kill him.

One Deputy deployed his Taser, however the suspect continued to advance with the knife. Then, the second Deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.

The suspect dropped the knife, at which time the Deputies were able to secure the suspect and render aid to the suspect. The suspect was transported to Meritus Medical Center for the treatment of his injuries. The suspect was later transported to a different medical center for continual medical treatment.

Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office spoke with the two adult stabbing victims at the hospital.

The first victim advised that he was working on a building when he noticed the suspect sitting on a stoop beside him. The victim stated that as he continued to work on the exterior of the building, he was attacked from behind without any warning. Eventually, the suspect stopped attacking the victim and walked away.

The second victim advised that he was driving through Williamsport, Maryland, and approached the intersection of Conococheague Street and Potomac Street and saw a male (the first victim) in the middle of the roadway bleeding. The second victim stated he did not know the first victim and only stopped to assist.

The second victim advised that he walked to the location where the suspect allegedly was, and as he rounded the corner to enter the alley, he observed the suspect standing in the alley holding an object in each of his hands. The second victim stated that the suspect charged at him and stabbed him in the stomach with a curved-bladed knife. The second victim retreated.

Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Both Deputies have been placed on Administrative Leave per Washington County Sheriff’s Office policy.

Charges against the suspect are currently pending.
